Strengths:
- Although many of these resources are not located right in the heart of Boardman, most of them are still within a 20 minute distance into Youngstown. This is a great advantage for those residents who were their own permanent means of transportation.
- There is an abundance of children's services and resources available.
- More clothing facilities, such as Goodwill & Salivation Army, are moving into the Boardman area, which is bound to help more needy families in this area.
- There are a numerous amount of local stores that accept food stamps, making it easier for these needy families to get the basic essentials they need to live on a daily basis.
Weaknesses:
- There are unfortunately no services located directly in Boardman for domestic violence & women's shelters.
- Most of the social services provided to the residents of Boardman, are located in the Youngstown area, which outskirts Boardman. Therefore, the residents of Boardman who do not have means of transportation routinely, these resources are of little to not help.
- Although volunteer services are available, the awareness for where to go in order to be a volunteer is low. No local bulletin boards are made available to these residents who would like to participate in volunteering.
